Accessible honeymoon gem with great food
We went here for our honeymoon and stayed 2 nights. The hotel is very accessible for a wheelchair user, with a separate side entrance (for dogs) that is level access. The room was spacious for a manual chair and the bed was the same height as my cushion, though it was a divan bed so I needed a transfer board because I couldn’t get my caster wheels under the bed. The bathroom was perfect: roll under sink, wet room with shower stool provided and toilet with drop down rails. There was no red cord, however. The doors throughout were heavy and I did struggle with this.
We also dined at the restaurant both nights which was delightful. The food is so nice, with locally sourced ingredients and fish so fresh it was practically wriggling! The restaurant is divided into the main dining room and a separate dog-friendly dining room, which was thoughtful - however, it is smaller and my assistance dog did struggle to find room with my wheelchair.
We also visited the resort to have a massage and use the pool. The pool has a lift which I could side-transfer into from my chair easily and the staff were well trained. The accessible changing rooms at the resort are ok, but I did find transferring between my chair and the shower chair difficult because the floor is uneven and slippery once wet. A larger fold down bench (with footplates / this one was missing them!) in the shower or a self-propelling shower chair that can be taken from pool to shower would be helpful.
