We visited with a friend who has recently become a wheelchair user (and his wife). Can call to pre-book one of 2 beach wheelchairs for half or whole day. Price very reasonable. Disabled parking space, disabled toilet and cafe and shop accessible. Big long flat sandy beach. Practically, only beach in N Devon with a beach wheelchair (Woolacombe should get one) so you can get down on the beach, not just look at it. Ramp down to beach a reasonable angle. At beach can also rent windbreaks, etc. It can get breezy

I wanted to ask what type of wheels do the beach wheel chairs have. Do they need a carer to push them or are the wheels big enough to do it myself.

Beach wheelchairs are now available at Saunton, Woolacombe and Putsborough. Saunton, Putsborough and Croyde now have free of charge hire.
