The collection spans 700 years and includes a staggering range of works by local, national and international artists, designers and makers. For over 130 years we have been acquiring the best and most interesting contemporary artworks. We are proud to care for these treasures on behalf of the people of Aberdeen and to share their stories with all our visitors. Highlights of the displays include works by Joan Eardley, the Scottish Colourists, Francis Bacon, Tracey Emin, Claude Monet and Barbara Hepworth.

Artistic Aberdeen

A beautiful, inspiring and inclusive space with a multitude of accessible toilets, accessibility features and of course artworks. With two cafes and a thoroughly modern Changing Places Toilet, this is a great place to spend an afternoon.

An excellent gallery to visit

Excellent access. Very helpful staff. Large changing places toilet. Good restaurant, reasonably priced. I was able to access and view everything I wanted to see.

Disabled Access Information for Aberdeen Art Gallery

The entrance is on Schoolhill. The doors usually open automatically, but if in doubt there is a push button at low level on the granite wall to the right of the doors. The doors can also be pulled opened manually. Power-assisted wheelchairs, mobility scooters and buggies are welcome. Guide dogs, hearing dogs and recognised assistance dogs are welcome. The ground floor café can provide water for assistance dogs. We have two wheelchairs available to borrow free of charge. Ask at the Welcome Desk on arrival or book in advance – call us on 03000 200293.

Blue Badge parking spaces are available outside the Gallery on a first come, first served basis. There is no on-street parking outside the Gallery. The nearest car park is the NCP at Harriet Street (2 min walk), the Bon Accord shopping centre or Denburn (5 min walk).
