Amy Winehouse Statue

I can’t profess to be the world’s biggest Amy Winehouse fan, but there’s no denying her talent. At a time when hip-hop dominated the charts, Amy was a retro throwback, introducing a new generation to the music that inspired her through some spectacular covers, while creating classics of her own. Her loss was felt by many, and now, fourteen years on, I find myself wondering what might have been. At least we can take comfort in knowing she lives on through her music. This statue, designed by Scott Eaton, was unveiled on 14 September 2014, on what would have been Amy's 31st birthday. It captures her signature style – the beehive hairdo, her hand on her hip and her unmistakable presence. There was no way I was leaving Camden without visiting this local landmark.
