Brighton Centre

Very disappointed I could not access the disabled toilets from the upstairs seating as the venue did not use the radar key program (I have a radar key). Did ask a member of staff if they had a key and was told no and that I need to go to the ground floor lost property point and they would have a key (no apologies) Got down to the lost property point and had to wait because some one who was drunk and had lost their purse didn't like that I was "pushing in" and that there was a queue. Got key (member of staff did not tell me where I needed to go) and then because of the sheer number of people and poor positioning of signage I struggled to find the disabled toilet.

I visited the Brighton Centre last week with my husband, who is a double amputee, to see the Ice Show, Passion. As we were aware that there were road works outside The Centre we drove down West Street intending to park in The Mall. Unfortunately we were unable to turn left into the car park but as luck would have it there were a couple of roadside parking spaces on double yellow lines, which we were able to use with the blue badge. On entering The Centre the facilities were excellent, a lift to take us up to the next floor and a disable toilet with easy access. The staff were very helpful and showed us to our seats, with my husband in his electric chair right in front of my seat behind him. The show was brilliant, skaters very professional, colourful costumes and with audience participation, a really enjoyable night out.

We brought a group of older people with learning disabilities to a matinee performance of the Ice Show. Prior to our visit we arranged to carry out a risk assessment of the venue and the member of staff who showed us around was extremely helpful. On the day of our visit the staff made our group very welcome, they took orders for ice creams and delivered them to our seats during the interval. All the staff were friendly and helpful and this contributed to the success of our visit. Thank you.
