Situated at the heart of Dunfermline, Carnegie Hall is an attractive art deco theatre which presents a quality programme of music, drama, comedy, dance and children’s shows. We support and host local arts organisations, including Limelight Carnegie Youth Theatre, Kelty and Rosyth Musical Societies and several popular dance schools. Adjacent to Carnegie Hall, the Music Institute welcomes workshops, classes and children’s groups. Our Studio Theatre, found within the Music Institute, also acts as a rehearsal and performance space for creating and developing new work.

Good but could be better

The venue is wheelchair accessible however there are only 4 disabled parking places at the hall,which are non bookable although there was one reserved when we went. Excellent that they have taken away seats from the end of rows so you feel part of the audience,before wheelchairs were put in a line at the back. However the access has a lot to be desired,the side entrances were closed so the only way out was the main corridor ,if there had been a fire we would be dead! We went to see RSNO who were superb,this venue has lots of shows etc so we will be back and hopefully it will be better as far as the entrances are questionable.

Ramped access to Carnegie Hall and Tiffany Café Bar is available next to the theatre entrance. Eleven wheelchair spaces are available in the auditorium. Please contact the Box Office to reserve one when you buy your ticket. Guide dogs are welcome. There are limited parking facilities next to the theatre for people with limited mobility. To enter just buzz at the barrier and say if you have a disabled badge. While we do have a disabled toilet, due to the historical nature of the building the doorway is not wide enough for a lot of modern wheelchairs. We have a foldable wheelchair that people can transfer into if they have issues getting their own wheelchair into the toilet. If you have any special requirements please tell box office staff when you book your ticket and we'll be happy to help.

The closest public car park is the Viewfield Terrace car park, and we have 2 disabled parking spaces at the front of the building.

While we do have a disabled toilet, due to the historical nature of the building the doorway is not wide enough for a lot of modern wheelchairs. We have a foldable wheelchair that people can transfer into if they have issues getting their own wheelchair into the toilet.
