DoubleTree By Hilton Dunblane Hydro

We had visited here about twice a year before the pandemic. Our last visit was November 2019. This was our first time back since then due to restrictions etc. We booked a dinner bed and breakfast offer. The hotel is on the edge of dunblane , with view over the. Town, to reach the hotel you drive up a long winding road, the are few parking spaces at The front including one for disabled but access to the hotel from here is up steps. The main car park is round the back with disabled parking spaces and a level entrance via a door that has a push button opening. You then go up a ramp and along a corridor to a small lift just big enough for a standard size wheelchair and carer, this takes you up to the bar, restaurant lounges, and reception. Our room was fully accessible with a wet room bathroom complete with shower seat, grab rails. Plenty of space for the wheelchair in the bathroom and a lower sink with easy use taps.. There was also plenty of space. In the bedroom for the wheelchair to manoeuvre around. Switches and plugs all at a suitable height for a wheelchair user. The bedroom had views over the town. The lounge and bar area is very nice comfy chairs and tables plus helpful staff who understood my needs. The staff were helpful and made us feel very welcome . We would certainly return to stay again.

We were staying here On a dinner bed and breakfast deal. I spoke with the restaurant manager before we arrived to inform them of my allergies . The menu isn’t huge but enough to cater for everybody’s likes . The chef was unable to confirm what the roast of the day was but said he could adjust things to cater for. My allergies. He offered to cook a chicken breast with vegetables and potatoes cooked separately with a red wine sauce. Both my husband and I had a very nice two course meal . The waiting staff were all fully aware of my allergies upon arrival in the restaurant. We had a table that had good wheelchair. Access. Breakfast was also very good self service but staff were on hand to assist us. It was very nice evening and would certainly return to use the restaurant on our next visit.

On arrival at this Hotel there was no disabled access at the front of the hotel. I had to drive around the back of the hotel to find an a appropriate entrance for my wife's mobility scooter. To gain access to the check in desk we had to negotiate a very small lift in order to avoid more steps in the hotel. The lift was so small it could hardly contain my wife's scooter and she had great difficulty maneuvering to gain the exit. Would not recommend this hotel.
