A modern bus station with room for improvement

I didn’t travel from this station, but I did stop by to check out the access, just in case you find yourself passing through in the near future. This is one of the more modern bus stations I’ve visited. The entire area is undercover, with lift access on one side and ramped access on the other. Let’s take a wee look at this location.

Very Accessible with step free access and accessible toilet

Edinburgh bus station is the central bus station in the capital, and buses travel from there across Edinburgh and nearby cities and towns. I visited Edinburgh bus station twice, on an outward and return journey. On both occasions I had a very positive experience and found it very accessible. Please note I used the station when I went on a Rabbie's Tours, so I was not using the regular buses. Please note that I used the Elder Street entrance on both occasions.

Easy access and very helpful staff

Being of a certain age with a bus pass I went to Glasgow from Edinburgh, using the service 900 from the bus station. I was very surprised given the excellent access to the lower level departure area via lift. Not the dingy old bus station I remember as a child. Fully modernised with disabled Access toilets with RADAR access, all on one level. There were amenities for travelers such as hot cold drinks, foods, magazines, papers. There were also left luggage stores and a large information area. The staff could not have been more helpful at the station and on the bus. The nearest public transport access is the Tram, with buses on three corners of the square stopping at most 200m from the Bus Station
