Disabled Traveller at flower filled 5* Forest of Arden hotel
The drive along country lanes was very scenic, and the entrance did not disappoint. (photo 1). Your first views are breathtaking, with flowers everywhere (photo 2) as you drive along a beautiful driveway (photo 3).
At a barrier (photo 4) just press the button and you drive along to hotel. ( pick up the code number on reception desk, off the counter to exit later on )
Drive straight ahead to reception and go through the archway ( photo 5), to arrive at
the stunning entrance to the Marriott hotel. (photo 6). There are two disabled bays (photo 7) and if these are taken you have to go out through the archway and park in the main car park.
A flat level approach to the entrance (photo 8) with automatic doors. At the reception desk (photo 9) we were given a very friendly welcome, and there is one lift
opposite reception desk (photo 10) but it is small, you will only get wheelchair and carer in it at a time.
A passage hiding in a corner (photo 11) took us to the Zest coffee lounge (photo 12)
With a plain simple counter where drinks are made, and these are brought to you.
We had a nice seat in the corner (photo 13) so we could but wheelchair out of the way, and we enjoyed a lovely cup of coffee. (photo 14).
Off the coffee lounge there is a push door out onto a beautiful terrace, (photo 15) and it’s on the level, very inviting with the colourful flowers everywhere, overlooking
the golf course.
Toilets are just off the coffee lounge (photo 16) a push door, but it was very heavy and difficult as I was on my own. Sadly there is no disabled toilet (photo 17) and you
will have to get up out of chair to use the toilet facilities.
The Cast Iron restaurant is very large, on the level for most areas (photo 18) and it is
a very nice place. The swimming pool is just by the side of coffee lounge, with a good sized well looked after pool. (photo 19).
Our final thoughts
We were both very impressed with this classy hotel, and flowers everywhere really did add to its charm. We feel there will be flowers during winter period as well.
All rooms were easily reached, but only 1 disabled room available, on ground floor, and easily accessible, with a very practical large room.
We would highly recommend this hotel.
