Forth Valley Sensory Centre has been supporting people in Forth Valley with sensory impairment and their families for over 10 years. The Centre offers support, advice, practical help and social opportunities. It was the first building of its type in the UK and has been specifically designed with the needs of sensory impaired people in mind. The Centre has a fully accessible Café serving Fairtrade coffee and homemade food. We also have a Sensory Garden providing a safe outside space. We also have a Sensory Room and put on a number of groups and activities for sensory impaired people. The overall objective of Forth Valley Sensory Centre, is to help people who have a sensory impairment live as independently as possible. The Forth Valley Sensory Centre Trust is a registered charity (SC034267).

Fully accessible sensory centre

I was meeting a group of friends for lunch at the cafe of the Forth Valley Sensory Centre. It had been a number of years since I had visited the sensory centre and I had only been there for work meetings previously so was nice to visit in a more social capacity. I notified the venue that I would be arriving to meet friends for lunch using the Welcome by Neatebox app they have installed which alerts staff to any accessibility and assistance requirements you have before you arrive at their venue. I arrived with a fellow guide dog owner and we were met at the entrance of the building and shown through to the cafe where some of our friends had already arrived.

Neatebox Ninjas Lunch

Parked right at front door, as we were using Welcome.app the girl.came.out and asked if we needed any help..Automatic door and straight through to cafe. Had reserved a table.for.us as booked on Welcome app..

Disabled Access Information for Forth Valley Sensory Centre

The Centre is all on one level and has textured flooring at junctions to assist visually impaired people and handrails throughout. The entrance has visible lines and rails leading up to automatic doors and there is textured paving from the car park area too.

There are a number of spaces directly outside the door. This is a public carpark however and there are additional disabled spaces just a few meters from our main entrance if needed. Textured paving and rails help guide people to the door.
