Hamilton Town House is a historic Carnegie library, dating back to 1907 with extensive refurbishment having taken place in 2004. The building is located on Cadzow Street, close to the main town centre.

The library has an Active IT department and reference library, both on the first floor, and adult and children’s materials on the ground floor; this includes spoken word and large print materials, and dyslexia friendly print books for children and teenagers. There are also dementia friendly picture books available. The library runs crafts classes as well as readers groups, and also has a children’s programme including Bookbug sessions – further information on these can be found by contacting the library. The library also has free Wifi access. The lift to the first floor is currently out of order, but there is temporary lift access through the main lift of Hamilton Town House – staff can assist with this upon request.

There is a small car park adjacent to the Town House building which contains disabled parking spaces. There is also parking availability on Cadzow Street directly in front of the library entrance, but this the spaces are limited in number and none are designated as disabled spaces.

Toilets features at Hamilton Town House Library

There is a wheelchair accessible toilet on the ground floor, through the library. This is a separate toilet next to the male and female toilets and does not required a key to open. It is also separate to the baby change facilities. Libraries across South Lanarkshire are part of Period Positive and have free sanitary products available for any visitors.
