The building has street level access, with automatic double doors. The library is all on the ground level, with the first floor only containing the library staff offices and facilities. The library has a selection of spoken word and large print materials, and an Active IT area. The library hosts a variety of classes and groups for adults and children, including Bookbug sessions; the library can be contacted for further information on these sessions. The library also has free Wifi access.

There is on-street parking outside on Union Street, and there are 4 disabled parking spaces to the rear of the building in the car park; there is another door on this side of the building, which has a buzzer for access.
