    Central Library opened in 1934 and was refurbished in 2010. The Grade II-listed building has been modernised and improved for the 21st century by combining its historic features with cutting-edge design and free unlimited Wi-Fi throughout. Take a look at the magnificent Wolfson Reading Room and our jungle-themed children's library; and if you’re interested in local or family history and want free access to the 1921 census, visit Archives+, where you can bring the history of Manchester to life. Our exciting events programme, Library Live, brings you exhibitions, music, performances, talks and more. Try our local specialities in the amazing café, and visit our shop with its many unique Library souvenirs. If you are looking for information on what to see and do, call into the Manchester Visitor Information Centre based in Central Library.

    Grand and impressive

    Manchester Central Library is a majestic building. Distributed over six floors, this rotunda-style structure inspired by the Pantheon in Rome really is a sight to behold. With accessible computers, accessible toilets on every public floor, a Changing Place toilet, a study hall, and a cafe, it truly is a place for everyone.

    Changing Places Toilet - If you can find it.

    Manchester Central Library is a majestic building. Distributed over six floors, this rotunda-style structure inspired by the Pantheon in Rome really is a sight to behold. With accessible computers, accessible toilets on every public floor, a Changing Places Toilet, a study hall, and a cafe, it truly is a place for everyone. This review is specific to the toilet and not the library as a whole.

    Disabled Access Information for Manchester Central Library

    We have level and ramped access with automatic doors at ground level and lifts which provides access to each floor. All exhibition areas, meeting rooms and public spaces are fully wheelchair accessible, and we have accessible toilets on every floor with a changing place on the lower ground floor.
