Ryde Town Council and Partners are delighted to offer a range of beach and sea equipment to make Ryde Beach more accessible to all. Our facilities include a beautiful boardwalk, a seasonal Changing Places unit, specialised sea and beach wheelchairs, and a convenient sand rollator - this equipment will be available to book online from 1st July - 30th August 2025 and is FREE to use. Super Beach, however not great access for those with mobility issues!

One of the best parts of living on the Isle of Wight, and in Ryde in particular, are the sandy beaches, and Ryde beach is gorgeous; depending on the tide (www.tidetimes.org.uk/ryde-tide-times) it can either feel like you could walk to Portsmouth, or that you could fall off the sea wall onto the sea! HOWEVER, if you have mobility issues you may have challenges accessing it.

Boardwalk Availability: Spring–Autumn 2025 The wooden boardwalk offers level access from the pavement, with bays for resting without blocking the pathway. Two sections are available: Harbour Beach (near the Marina) and North Walk (by Lifeguard Station). Due to extreme tides, the boardwalks don’t provide water access. Sea and sand wheelchairs, plus a sand rollator, are available FREE from 1st July – 30th August with online booking. Collect from the Lifeguard Station on North Walk. Toilets features at Ryde Beach

An accessible toilet is available in the Eastern Gardens Facilities. From 15th May and until the end of September, we are providing a temporary seasonal Changing Places unit. Although this is slightly smaller than a permanent facility, it includes an adult-size changing bench, freestanding hoist system, toilet, washbasin etc. This is located next to our Eastern Gardens Toilets, only meters away from the boardwalk on Ryde (Harbour) Beach.
