    aboutSectionText

For nearly 500 years, the bishops of Moray relaxed in this majestic building a short distance from their cathedral at Elgin. It even had its own bowling green and, according to on account, a tennis court. Today, you can climb David's Tower, where bishops once entertained kings an queens. The views over Moray are well worth the ascent. Look out for the wildlife - barn owls nest here. 1 Apr to 29 Sept: Daily except Mon & Tue, 10am to 4.30pm (last entry 4pm). Closed for lunch 12 noon to 1pm. 30 Sept to 31 Mar: Closed

A Palace set amongst the trees

The first thought that came to mind was how easy it would be to get around the Palace or indeed how much was actually remaining of the building. After driving along the access road and then a track to park near the entrance the mystery was solved. On a beautiful summer morning the tower was bathed in sunlight, the grass freshly cut and the trees offering a canopy of many greens ... we were in for a good time exploring!
