Situated in the heart of the community, Deptford Lounge is located on Giffin Square, just off Deptford's bustling high street, two minutes walk from step-free Deptford Station. With multiple bus routes, Deptford Lounge is an easy commute from anywhere in London.

Accessible public space

The Lounge is a modern building that has a small library, a cafe, couches, and Internet access. The wifi is sometimes hit and miss and the book & dvd collection is limited due to its small size. I've mostly used the ground floor space to meet friends, especially in the evening as there aren't many public & wheelchair accessible venues open late in Deptford (it gets an extra star for being open until 10 on weekdays and also for having Sunday openings, note the cafe operates a much more limited amount of time).

The entrance to our building is easily accessible through our automatic door, where there are no steps or obstructions. All spaces on each level are fully accessible for wheelchair users with accessible toilets and shower facilities also avaliable. In the case of an emergency e.g. a fire, we have a chair lift that is provided to ensure the safety of the disabled person/s. The library on the ground floor is set out to provide wheelchair users enough space to comfortably manoeuvre around when using our facility.

Toilets features at The Deptford Lounge

We provide a changing places key for disabled visitors to use upon their arrival. This accessible toilet also includes a height adjustable adult-sized changing bench and a mobile hoist. It provides adequate space in the changing area for the disabled person and up to two carers.
