Located in the heart of the Salford Quays, The Lowry is a spectacular waterside building with a unique and dynamic identity. The Lowry houses two main theatres and studio space, presenting a full range of drama, opera, ballet, dance, musicals, children's shows, popular music, jazz, folk and comedy. The Lowry is also home to gallery spaces; showing the works of LS Lowry alongside changing contemporary exhibitions.

Beautiful but hard work

We attended the Lowry for the theatre (Lyric) but also spent time in the art galleries and restaurant (Pier 9).

The Lowry is a must to visit

We visited the Lowry to watch Les Miserables. A wonderful production of considerable length so interesting to see how it was for Lyn as a wheelchair user. There are two options to either book a wheelchair space which we did on this occasion. On reflection we should have booked a seat where she could have transferred into a theatre seat further to the front as we were right at the back. It was good however and we managed to get around. The disabled toilet is where it lost half a star as it was wet on the floor and dated.

Theatre, Art, Restaurant

Whether for the Theatre ( there is 3) Art exhibition (largest collection of Lowry) just food his is a great place to see. A multi floor car park across the street connected to Lowry Outlet. It would have been a five but for the sloped floor to the toilets - it is a struggle to get back up to ground floor, you could as one of the volunteers for assistance. Discount for people with disability and carer. Good clean Disabled Toilets on each floor. Lifts to get to the 1st floor.

There is a passenger drop-off point immediately in front of The Lowry. Secure parking is available in the Lowry Outlet Mall car park, which also has designated areas for disabled people on each level. We recommend that Blue Badge holders use the car park entrance at the rear of the Lowry Outlet Mall by the mini roundabout. This will enable them to park in the basement (pre-payment is possible at the car park office on this level). At this level it is possible to exit the Lowry Outlet Mall and cross the plaza (ramps available) to reach The Lowry.

Toilets features at The Lowry

Toilets are located at the front of the building on the lower ground level and accessed by two sloping ramps. Facilities include separate disabled toilets for males and females; there are individual cubicles in both toilet areas and urinals in the male toilets. Baby changing facilities are located inside the entrance to both male and female toilets.
