    aboutSectionText

Lothian endeavours to provide an inclusive service for bus travel in Edinburgh that is accessible to all. For this reason, our bus drivers and customer service advisors receive training on a range of disabilities and our buses are designed with safety and accessibility in mind. We have an up-to-date website that you can use to plan your journey, view and disruptions or diversions on your route and also find all of our Accessibility information/ All of our services are wheelchair accessible, with a kneeling feature and ramped access. The accessible spaces on all of our buses are rearward facing. We welcome assistance dogs on our services (as well as pet dogs, so long as they are kept on a leash and are well behaved). PLEASE NOTE. We are able to accept mobility scooters on some of our tour buses if there is space, otherwise they can be folded and stored as luggage. Many of our tour buses either have two wheelchair accessible spaces. Our Tour buses also have Audio and Visual Next Stop Announcements, or a live guide to help all of our customers navigate the city We have a dedicated TFE app to help all of our customers with their journey planning and it also has a TFE talks feature designed with the RNIB especially for our customers with sight loss. We also have an app specific for Edinburgh Bus Tours! Lothian Buses have a dedicated Accessibility and Inclusion Officer which means we are constantly reviewing and revising all aspects of our business. If you have any questions, concerns or feedback, please email Accessibility@LothianBuses.co.uk Our Shandwick Place and Waverley TravelHubs are registered Keep Safe Places which means that our colleagues have received Disability Awareness Training and also Hate Crime Awareness Training

Edinburgh Bus Tours - New Accessible Fleet

Recently took the City Sightseeing tour of Central Edinburgh. It covers many of the city’s main points of interest, such as Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Grassmarket, Calton Hill and Palace of Holyroodhouse. The ticket agent and bus driver were both friendly and very helpful. They immediately pulled the ramp down for me and allowed me to board the bus quickly and easily. Edinburgh Bus Tours have a new accessible fleet with two wheelchair spaces, which have display screens (subtitled). The buses also have a new wheelchair securement system installed. The system is called Quantum and it works by electronically and safely holding wheelchairs in place to prevent them from moving around or tipping when the bus is moving. I felt safe and secure and was therefore able to enjoy the bus ride knowing my wheelchair wasn't going to bump or slide around. Access was fantastic and I'd definitely go on another Edinburgh Bus Tour.
