Visiting the Physic Garden

This review is only for the Physic Garden, a new public garden that is free to access. I went to visit the garden after listening to a talk from staff at Holyroodhouse. When I visited the garden the Palace itself was still closed to the public but the garden was open from 9:30am to 4:30pm.

Edinburgh - Holyroodhouse

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour and audio guide, excellent for me. As a hearing aid user it worked very well. Thankyou to very friendly and welcoming staff

Great visit and superb staff

Access to the Palace was surprisingly good for a building of its age. A lift can take mobility impaired visitors up to the State Apartments. The Abbey ruins are accessible as is the gift shop, cafe and toilets.

The Palace of Holyroodhouse is largely accessible, with some restrictions in Mary, Queen of Scots' rooms. Concessionary rates are available for you if you have a disability and a companion is admitted free of charge. . There is limited bench seating and registered assistance dogs are welcome. A downloadable Photo Journey of the visitor route of the Palace and a range of Communication support images can be found on our website to help visitors prepare ahead of of their visit. Toilets features at Palace of Holyroodhouse

Accessible toilets are located in the Café at the Palace, which can be visited without a ticket. The nearest Changing Places toilet facility is located at the Scottish Parliament. The Scottish Parliament is open Monday, Friday and Saturday (including public holidays) – 10am to 5pm (last entry 4.30pm). Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday –9am to 6.30pm (last entry 6pm).
