Established in 1999, The Wardrobe is a Bar, Kitchen, Venue, and arts space located in the heart of the cultural quarter in Leeds City Centre. All set in a relaxed and sociable atmosphere, upstairs you will find one of the most extensive back bars in the city, delicious food and a team of friendly and welcoming staff. Downstairs homes a 400-capacity renowned venue and events space that hosts an extensive and diverse programme of music, comedy, and club nights from some of the most exciting and top performers around.

Accessible event club

We went to see a comedian at the Wardrobe. The main entrance to the upstairs bar area has about five steps. Wheelchair access is a few metres to the left of the main entrance in the box office. You can get to the bar this way. We had emailed the Wardrobe before buying tickets for the comedian which we recommend. The Wardrobe will offer companion tickets and book accessible seats with a great view. When we arrived the door staff made us feel really comfortable and welcome and took us down in the lift before everyone else. He explained clearly what would happen in an emergency and where to go.

Our main entrance features a single step followed by a three-step staircase, but we also offer a step-free alternative via the venue entrance. If you prefer to use this entrance, please feel free to contact our team for assistance. The main bar is fully accessible, with the exception of two raised stage areas. To access the venue, there is an 18-step staircase, but a lift is available behind the box office. Should you wish to use the lift, simply reach out to our team for support. The majority of the venue is wheelchair accessible, though the sunken dance floor directly in front of the stage is not. For your convenience, we also have dropped counters at the Box Office, Merchandise Counter, and Cloakroom (when in use).

We have gender neutral access toilets on both floors. Neither of them are RADAR locked and are free to enter/use without a steward or member of staff present. However the access toilet in the venue is located backstage so a member of the team will show you when you arrive where it is. It is easy access from the accessible within our venue space.
