Accessible and enjoyable riverside walk (Balerno to Currie)

Easy access at the beginning of this 1.59 mile walk. Leaving the Water of Leith Walkway to get to the bus stop at Currie involves a short section of moderately steep path, some narrow pavement and a steepish push up from Currie bridge to the main road, but if this not particularly fit 64 year-old accompanist can manage it, most people can. These sections might be too much for someone self-propelling in a manual wheelchair.

A very accessible walk, if a bit bumpy in places (Slateford to Leith)

Mainly riverside walk, 2.62 miles and mostly flat. Surface varies - gravel, tarmac (with the occasional Edinburgh pothole!) and board walks. Two main road crossings, both having pedestrian crossings with lights. Keep a look out for dippers, kingfishers, mergansers and (at the right time of year) famous rugby players on the practice pitch at Murrayfield.

Great riverside walkway with good access (Cannonmills to St.Mark's)

The walkway from Cannonmills has been upgraded and offers an elevated barrier free walkway. There are viewing platform areas to overlook the river and local wildlife. The section from the road bridge into St. Mark's Park has been modified to incorporate a ramp instead of the older steps.
